William Friedkin’s ‘The Exorcist’ Coming to Ultra HD Blu

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Exorcist, Warner Bros. Studios will be releasing the iconic supernatural film on 4K Ultra HD physical disc and digital September 19.

The Exorcist follows the horrific events that transpire when a teenage girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, pushing her mother to seek the help of two priests in an effort to save her daughter. The film is widely regarded as a supernatural masterpiece, having won two Academy Awards and being on the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

The film is directed by William Friedkin from a screenplay by William Peter Blatty, based on Blatty’s 1971 novel of the same name. The cast for The Exorcist includes Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Lee J. Cobb, Kitty Winn, Jack MacGowan, Jason Miller, and Linda Blair in her breakout role.

The Exorcist will be available to purchase on Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc from online and in-store at major retailers and available for purchase digitally from Prime Video, AppleTV, Google Play, Vudu, and more.

The Ultra HD Blu-ray discs include both the 1973 theatrical version and the 2000 Extended Director’s Cut of the film, which features 11 additional minutes of footage that was not shown in theaters. The film will be available on Ultra HD Blu-ray disc for $33.99 SRP and includes an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the theatrical version of the feature film in 4K with HDR, an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with the Extended Director’s Cut of the film in 4K with HDR, and a digital download of both versions of the film.

The film will also be available to purchase on 4K Ultra HD purchase from select digital retailers beginning on September 19.
