Ever wonder what beautiful creatures wander about our very neighborhood at night? While butterflies are diurnal and can be seen fluttering around the garden during the day, equally majestic moths are nocturnal, and thus are best observed in the evening.

The Tuckerton Environmental Commission invites nature enthusiasts out to All Wars Memorial Field (Bay Avenue in, Tuckerton) from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 for the second annual Moth Night, led by moth expert and photographer Ann-Marie Woods.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket, and a flashlight, to sit and see comfortably during the free family-friendly event. Check out a variety of live moths and learn about what moths live in our region, how they benefit our environment and how we can help them thrive. —M.M.D.
